The “Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Research” Summer School runs in Corfu from 3 to 7 September 2026, at the Rodostamo Hotel and the Ionian Academy. It is organised by the European Interdisciplinary Society of Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Research (ESAC) together with the Ionian University, and continues the summer school of the same name hosted at the Ionian Academy in June 2025.

The programme
The programme combines lectures and workshops with group work on research challenges at the intersection of oncology, artificial intelligence and multimodal data analysis. Participants, working in interdisciplinary teams, develop a short research proposal that they present on the final day of the school.
The opening ceremony
The opening ceremony took place on Friday 4 September 2026 at the Ionian Academy, with a keynote lecture by Evis Sala (Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Albania, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore) on cooperation between low-, middle- and high-income countries in technology-enabled healthcare.
It was followed by a panel discussion on AI for patients, access and peripheral regions, with representatives of the state, academia, industry, hospitals and patients.
The laboratory’s participation
The laboratory takes part through Professor Nikolaos Korfiatis, who moderates the opening ceremony together with the scientific chairs and supports the participants’ working groups during the school. Three students of the Department of Informatics also attend, with their registration fees covered by the Rotary Club of Corfu.
