abstract = {The present PhD thesis investigates the relationship between hospitality organizational resources (financial, social and technological capital) and Dynamic Capabilities development, which through firms’ Digital Culture leads to the adoption of Innovativeness in crises periods. The current research was conducted with the sample of 502 hotel firmsin Greece during covid-19 pandemic. In practice, it is explored whether the hospitality industry -based on its own resources- can develop those skills that will enable it to cope with turbulent and unstable environments. The findings confirm that financial and technological resources have an impact on the development of market capitalization and operation adjustment agility in hotel firms during crucial periods, contrary to social resources that do not seem to have the same influence according to the results. Furthermore, it is shown that the Digital Culture pursued by hotel firms acts as a mediatorfor the influence of the two types of agility on their development of five types ofI nnovativeness (creativity, openness, future orientation, risk-taking, proactiveness). The thesis also highlights the necessity for administrations of the tourism sector to cultivate agility and establish a robust strategy for post-pandemic recovery. Dynamic Capabilitiesare the essential assets that empower hotels to operate successfully in times of exceptional upheaval and crisis. They encompass the capacity to respond rapidly and effectively to unforeseen challenges, coupled with agility to adapt promptly to evolving circumstances. The study underscores the significance of Innovativeness within the hospitality sector, as it navigates through unprecedented challenges. Innovativeness becomes a cornerstone through the development of Dynamic Capabilities, enabling organizations to not only respond effectively to crises but also to proactively adapt to evolving circumstances. Inconclusion, this research contributes to the understanding of how specific organizational resources influence the development of Dynamic Capabilities and Innovativeness in the hospitality industry during crises, with a nuanced emphasis on existing resources. The requirement for Innovativeness becomes a pivotal aspect, recognizing its central role incultivating Dynamic Capabilities, which ultimately ensure organizations' agility and agility in times of crisis. The contribution of this thesis at a theoretical and practical level is indisputable. Theoretically, it highlights for the first time the mechanism that drives firms to exploit their organizational capital for obtaining agility and develop Innovativeness in crises periods by testing empirically part of the DC theoretical framework presented by Steinenger et al. (2022). Practically it offers useful information about the investments that hospitality entrepreneurs/managers need to make in order to ensure the flexibility of their companies in times of crisis.},
